Essential Travel Requirements

Visa Requirements

Most foreign nationals are required to obtain a visa before traveling to Bhutan. Visa applications must be submitted online through the official Bhutanese tourism portal or processed by a licensed Bhutanese tour operator.

 

Sustainable Development Fee (SDF)

All international visitors are required to pay the Sustainable Development Fee (SDF) in accordance with government regulations. This fee directly supports Bhutan’s environmental conservation, cultural preservation, and sustainable development initiatives.

 

Pre-arranged Travel Services

Independent travel is restricted in Bhutan. Before arrival, visitors must have the following arrangements in place:
