Western Cultural Tour
Day 01: Arrival at Paro
On arrival at Paro airport a representative of Taktsang Tours & Travels will meet you. After completing all formalities transfer to hotel. In the evening an orientation talk and video show on Bhutan. Overnight at hotel.
Day 02: Paro – Thimphu
After breakfast leave for Thimphu, which is 2 hrs, drive. There you can visit the Great Memorial Chorten(stupa), the National Library, Traditional Medicine Institute, Painting School. You can also visit the Tashichhoedzong and the Handicrafts Emporium. Overnight at hotel.
Day 03: Thimphu – Trongsa
After breakfast drive east to Trongsa across Pelela pass(alt. 3300m). Stop at Chendebji Chorten for lunch. Trongsa Dzong can be viewed at a strategic point. Overnight at lodge.
Day 04: Trongsa – Bumthang
In the morning visit the Ta Dzong or watch tower and then leave for Bumthang which is a 3 hrs drive through Yutongla pass(alt. 3400m). In Bumthang visit the Kurje Lhakhang, Jambay Lhakhang, Tamshing monastery, the Jakar Dzong and the Swiss farmhouse. Overnight at lodge.
Day 05: Bumthang – Punakha
After breakfast explore around and then leave for Punakha. Enroute visit Wangduephodrang. Dinner and overnight at hotel.
Day 06: Punakha – Paro
In the morning visit Punakha Dzong when the monks are in Thimphu. It was the capital of Bhutan until 1955 and is the winter residence of the Je Khenpo (Chief Abbot) and the monk body. After lunch drive to Paro. Dinner and overnight at hotel.
Day 07: Paro
After breakfast visit the National Museum also known as the Ta Dzong. Short walk down to view the Rinpung Dzong. After lunch drive to the ruins of Drugyel Dzong, built in 1647 by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyel to celebrate the victory over the Tibetans. It was destroyed by fire in 1950. Visit the Kyichu Lhakhang and then visit a traditional farmhouse. Drive back. Dinner and overnight at hotel.
Day 08: Paro – Exit
After breakfast drive to the airport for your departure.
